^ I know the feeling. Last oil change, I had to use a strap wrench to get the filter off. I was kinda shocked since I can usually strong arm them off. That filter looked like a crushed pop can when I was done with it.

Spartan, I have used the screw driver method before, but I prefer not to use it. It makes one hell of a mess.

I can never get a good grip on the filter, especially when your hands are covered in used engine oil.

Now, why would you have that problem? I just use a wrench on the nut until it falls out of the pan and into our drain pan. Then I just pick it up out of the grate.

Never did it that way. I usually just take it off with my fingers.

Okay not sure if I read this or not but here is and update tonewer Dodge vehicles. It seems all Hemi's for sure and most other Dodge's including my sons Avenger the oil viscosity that gets used is 5W 20 all year round. Absolutely necessary for the Hemi for sure, to do with the MDS. Seems strange thinner oil and they say you can go 6 mos or 10000kms....I went 3 months 2800 kms. the light had not come on yet but 3 months or 5000kms is my schedule I don't care. What will I be defaulting warranty by over changing the oil?

Ok, all 2nd gen Rams take 10W-30 in the summer and ALL of usare out of warranty, so this doesnt affect us at all. Although I think I have MDS, though. My truck likes to bog down in hills and not have any power. Lemme check.

I was sorta kidding, In refrence to the MDS. Although it does do that. I also hear w whine from the fuel pump when it is in overdrive going around 50MPH. After we move into the new house (With 3 garages!!!) I may take the bed off, replace the fuel pump, POR-15 the rear frame(Although it really doesnt need it. Indiana winters have been good to this truck), and put a new bumper on.
