I use amsoil and I always change it between 9-10k miles. Where my dad works they change it every 25,000 miles in their fleet vehicles and they have no problems, but I wouldn't go that long in any vehicle I own. The stuff does to a good job though. Switched to amsoil around 100,000 miles and it never leaked a drop, which I suspected a synthetic might on a higher mileage engine. 20,000 miles later I have no problems.

Either. Usually the PureOne, but depends on if they have it in stock or not.

Been doing that 40 years or more.
I've used the biger filter on my 87 since it was new , also on the 96.
In the 1960's that's what they used. The same filter that Ford used for a long time.

16mm = 5/8
15mm = 9/16
13mm +1/2

9 out 0f 10 times either its a ford , chevy , dodge the plug "head" is the same size...

Does the oil filter sit right on the block? I changed mine my oil today and I was like wtf did I do something wrong.

I know yr not going to argu with me you will just give me the ban hammer lol. Idk where my dad got the info from but amsoil was number 1. They had drip tests how long it stuck to cyc walls.

There is only one reason why I don't like amsoil. Due to the oil properties, over time the viscosity will change. Granted, its not a big issue in vehicles without an MDS type motor. There was an independent study done on a smaller type of vehicle. The people trying amsoil, used a 5w-30 weight grade. After monitering this oil on a 25,000 mile interval change, the end viscosity was 15w-40. Once again, not that big of an issue on motors that don't operate on MDS. Really the only issues on older engines like ours is the fact that using a higher viscosity complicates cold starting, and should rob you of a small amount of power and MPG (Like 1 HP, and maybe .1-.8 MPG loss)

On MDS motors using a higher or lower viscosity than what the engine was designed with, makes the MDS function either kick in at a lower speed, or higher speed. This isn't a major issue, and some people might not see a problem with it, but its the small things like that that bug me.

Walmart has the 5 quart jug of Castrol GTX on sale for $12 till june 6th. Decent budget oil for 5K oil changes. UOA's look good for longer intervals, YMMV. Flashpoint is a little low but hey its not a group IV or V base oil but has a good additive pack. On second thought maybe you could get someplace else to pricematch,...I hate the walmart business plan as it concerns employees.

Do they make an aftermarket lifted that deletes the MDS feature? That would be my first upgrade on an 09.
