So today while driving my trans starts shifting weird... normally i have to give it about half throttle for it to downshift, but it was downshifting when i gave it a little gas it would downshift and when i gave it full throttle the rpms would pin... idk if it dropped to first of just reved up i was doing about 55... then it would not downshift when i came to a stop i would manually have to put it in first. so when i got home i saw it hd the check engine light on and it came up as P0720... does anyone know whats going on... please say its a sensor or something

 

if montec was still here he'd say replace governor pressure sensor and solenoid, or something like that. he probably typed it so many times he developed arthritis. lol.

search his posts and i'll bet you'll find your answer.

seriously, it is, speed sensor, shouldn't be that bad. Just do a search on the code and you'll find some threads on it.

This only happens on downshifts? How were the upshifts?

If you pinned the tach on a WOT downshift from 55 then you need to adjust the 2nd gear band. The transmission tried to hit 2nd gear but was not able to and just revved up.
