i looked under mine and the shifter is hooked up to a bar that looks adjustable, could just be out of adjustment.

Actually no, that won't do it But, I finally got some help and my motor mounts are totally shot first of all. So I am replacing them in the AM when the parts store gets them in for me. I just got done loosening all the bolts to get a head start. All I have to do is figure out a safe way to raise the motor from the bottom without damaging anything, since I have no way right now of lifting it from the top.

maybe a piece of 2x10 about 12-14" long laying flatways under the oil pan. that way its in contact with all 4 corners and shouldn't bend anything.

but, i don't think a motor mount explains your shifter movement.

I am amazed that you managed to tear up the motor mounts on your truck. I have looked at the ones on mine, and thought no way in hell could I ever break those.... Guess you can

You can take a short piece of 4x4 wood on its side and use a floor jack under the crank pulley and slowly lift the motor up then place a block of wood in between the motor and cross member. Should give you plenty of room to change mounts.

you could also park it under a tree branch or under a chain strung between 2 trees and use a come a long from the top if you could find something to hook it to.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have 2 jacks with 2 2x4's holding the motor up where the pan bolts are. Going to pick up the new ones in a couple minutes. They move so much that the motor is lifting up like 2 or more inches as is the tranny rotating . Replacing tranny mount too while I'm under it.

LOL! I think the truck would explode if I even thought about doing that. Anyway, it's done and the TC shifter only moves like a 1/2 inch now.

Wow! I just noticed I went over 3000 posts yesterday. Looks like you have just gone over 4000 recently DV, congrats.
