A locker should allow one tire to turn faster than the other in a turn. It should unlock in a turn and lock back up out of the turn. The can and do make a popping noise when locking and unlocking. The also do cause your tires to chirp some on occasion but not all the time in my experience. it really comes down to preference as to whether you offroad, go with a locker, and if you mostly street drive, go with an lsd.

http://www.ringpinion.com/Cart.aspx That is what I want to do. One other thing your rpm's will be higher because of the new gears.

Detroit Locker

IMO as far as LSD's go, the TrueTrac is the only one worth a crap.
