Default Well this is awesome

It looks like all of the Advance Auto Parts stores in ND have gone out of business. The awesome part is a bunch of my parts have their LLT warranty.

****.

Anyone else seeing Advance stores dying around them?

Weird, just read a story the other day about them beating estimates and having over 100 new store openings. Didn't mention anything about store closings.

They just opened the one near me less than 6 months, I went there a couple times at first, but they are such idiots I won't go there anymore no matter how bad the urgency for a part is. Maybe more people are doing the same thing,LOL. They have cheaper parts, but as far as oil, wax and anything on the floor, they are expensive. Wally world kicks their ***. They have only 1 gallon jugs of Mobil1 for instance that are more expensive then the 5qt jugs at WM. And the extra qt you need to buy at Advance is $8.79. Even my regular private owned parts store is cheaper than that. I will happily pay more for parts to havesomeone behind the counter taht knows what they are doing and is older than 18.

I'm suprised they are closing stores. From the press releases that I read they only closed something like three stores. I might not be remebering correctly. The store that I work at is doing really well. We have about the same volume we had last year.

There were a couple of people behind the counter at the one nearest my house that knew their stuff. I agree that the price of their shelf merchandise was pretty high. I buy that stuff at Wally World or Fleet Farm.

The next nearest are an O'Reilly's, which, while not so far a way, is sort of a pain in the *** to get to because of how the roads are set up there. Meh.

Here's my thing. The people at advance ain't the ones working on your truck. Why do they need to know how to fix it? Yes it might makes things simpler when asking for a part. It would also be nice to be able to say how hard is it to do this and get a answer. However if your that worried about it you shouldn't be working on it yourself

Don't know what's going on in ND, but Advance looks to be doing fine.

Must have been the one in Fargo, the one in West Fargo, and the one in Fergus Falls, MN. They've all closed in the past few months.

I've seen alot of stores that are exactly like what you described. I guess I'm lucky at my store. I have 5 ASE certified people. One of wich was a mechanic before he started. I think we are pretty diverse. Two are just the silly retail parts ASE. One is Audi one is Ford and one is Chevy. We have alot of people that drive the extra 4 or 5 miles just because we are pretty experienced.

That's not the know how I was talking about. And btw, I worked in my old man's auto parts store/machine shop for 20 + years, so I'm not bragging but I know what the average joe wants in a person behind the counter. Not just someone who knows how to look something up on a computer and looks at you like you have 2 heads when you ask for a certain part. And besides, when you have a store like advance or autozone, you are catering to people who have to try and fix it themselves. Sometimes it's like walking into home depot where most of them don't know what a 2x4 is.
