Default Looking for some input...

I am planning on doing the tranny cooler line check valve delete this weekend. I decided also since I have had the truck for 30,000+ miles and have not done any tranny work, that I would drop the pan and do the filter/gasket as well. I looked into some records from the previous owner that came with the truck and it seems this pan drop and filter/gasket change was done about 40,000 miles/4 years ago.

I am not having any problems, so my question to you is...Do you think doing unnecessary work will open a can of worms so to speak or will it be good preventattive maintenance?

Also, the dipstick says dexron. They guy at the store sold me Dexron III...that is kosher, right?

Thanks,

Sully

Mopar makes their own stuff get that. As for the pan drop and filter. I would say do it anyway.

Return the Dexron if you can. +1 for ATF+4. ATF+4 is designed specifically for Chrysler's picky transmissions, and anything else has been known to cause issues (a lot of times, complete transmission failure).

The only fluid I've heard of not causing issues and not being ATF+4 is Amsoil transmission fluid.

Also do your self a favor and install a drain plug in the pan. Life will be good next time you change the filter.

Drill a hole in the pan. Put some silicone around the hole. Tighten it on? Let silicone dry. It is really simple.
