Just an update. Been driving the truck for the last couple of days and she runs Sah-WEET! Once I got her back from the transmission shop, I headed 30 miles to a friend's to pick up a bunch of old VW parts and tools. We had probably 800lbs in the cargo box and hauled it with ease. Yesterday, I had to move two of my VW's to another part of the yard (remember, I have 10 acres), so I let my 14-year old drive the truck. We'd get to a point where I wanted him to ease the truck forward so he'd take his foot off of the throttle and she'd just creep forward at idle. This is while being hitched to a VW that had three flat tires. The truck had never been able to do that before.

If anyone in the Oklahoma area wants a reference to a reasonable transmission shop, give the Transmission Clinic of Norman a call. Their number is (405) 364-2954.

The boy and I went to Eureka Springs this past weekend to attend the Northwest Arkansas VW Association's annual show. I didn't haul anything except for a couple of transmissions and beams in the cargo box and overall the Dodge performed great. She handled those steep inclines of Eureka without breaking a sweat (I was smart enough to take her out of OD for those climbs). One the return trip, with the Cruise set at 75mph, she never once downshifted while climbing the gentle inclines, whereas before she's slam down a gear.

I am a hap-hap-HAPPY camper with this well-built transmission. I even went by the transmission shop before the trip to let them know how it was doing. I'm even getting an average of 16.4mpg on the highway
