Default 2nd to 3rd gear shift 46re

Hi guys, first of all i would like to thank everyone on here that have been so helpful with all of the questions i have asked since i bought my dodge. The next question for today. I just installed a B&M transpak shift kit in my 2001 ram. I got it all together and the truck runs great transmission feels good, expect shifting from second to third gear the truck revs a bit before actually catching the gear. Its not a whole lot, but it's enough that i was wondering if this is supposed to be happening or not. Along with putting the shift kit in i also adjusted the front and rear bands. I was hoping someone might be able to shine some light on this. 1st to second shift feels nice and firm and is quick, 2nd to 3rd revs a bit and is not as fast of a shift and this is what im in question about. The shift to overdrive seems perfect. I replaced the boost valve plate with a superior plate to fix a broken retainer. Any help anyone can give me would be great! The shift kit i installed is B&M 10227 Transpak. Thanks for any help anyone can be!

my truck does the same thing, only goin into O/D under any load (anyhting over than 0% throttle). It started after it came out of the dealership for rebuild and they put a transgo shift kit in it, i wonder if these problems are related?

For the band adjustment i went by what the fsm says for 2001 dodge ram. I used the following steps.
Front Bands
1. Loosen band adjusting screw locknut. Back off 3-5 turns
2. Tighten band adjusting screw to 72 inch lbs.
3. Back off front band adjusting screw 2 7/8 turns.
4. Tighten lock nut

Rear Bands
1. Loosen band adjusting screw locknut 5-6 turns
2. Tighten adjusting screw to 72 inch lbs.
3. Back off adjusting screw 2 turns
4. Tighten locknut

For the front bands i had to use an extension on the torque wrench, would that make an sort of a difference? The tranny feels good in the other gears, it just revs a bit on the 2nd to third shift. I was reading b&m's troubleshooting guide and it said for engine revs on 2-3 shift check band adjustment or another solution is remove cupped office plug. The plug was installed in the 3-4 accumulator housing under the cover for the accumulator spring. I was wondering if this could be the cause! Any help or thought would be greatly appreciated. I didn't like the answer the chrysler transmission tech gave me over the phone today. He suggested that a seal in the transmission has become worn and is leaking due to the age of the transmission. Howerver as of now im not thinking that is the problem since before i installed the shift kit and adjusted the band i had absolutely no problems with the 2-3 shift. Thanks for any help!

Make the front band adjustment 2 turns. If that doesnt work pull the vb down and air check the clutches and bands.

Well i just readjusted the front bands. I losened the locking nut retorqued to 72 inch pounds and backed off 2 turns. Still have the same problem. On the 2nd to 3rd gear shift the tranny revs lil over 100 rpms between shifts on light to moderate acceleration. I was going to try b&m's other possible solution of removing the "aluminum cupped orifice plug." They gave this as a possible cause of a rev between 2nd and 3rd on their troubleshooting guide on the back of the instruction manual. I probably won't be able to get to try this solution untill this weekend at the earliest though. If that does not work, i am going to have to ask you how exactly to "air check the clutches and bands." I am still learning alot as i go with all of this stuff, so i appreciate all the help your giving me. Thanks! I will keep you posted on what happens with i remove that cupped orifice plug.

Yep, just make sure when you tighten the lock nut you hold the adjuster screw still. It will turn when you tighten the lock nut.

It sounds like the band is releasing too quickly or the direct drum isnt coming on fast enough. Could you scan those directions you have? I dont have any of those kits laying around.
