Well I haven't been on in forever, but I still have my ram though still haven't gotten to drive it w the new motor tranny gears etc. My mechanic can get it to run at 10*(I don't know what that means) position of the the engine stroke maybe? However he can't get it to idle, says he thinks its cause there is no c02 sensosrs..(its open header right now) I said he could plug those sensors that I have in my exaust(sitting in the bed) in b/c don't they fool the computer into thinking the co2 sensors are reading fine? I have no cat its just straight pipe to muffler dumped.

You guys think this will work?

Sounds like your dizzy, cam, and crank are out of sync.

you at least need your front o2 sensor, it measures your air/fuel and tells the computer how to adjust......are you using a shadetree mechanic?......sounds like it

Nah gone to him for years but if you mean like a non fancy name like hot performance or something then yes? Its west 9th auto in edmond. he has done all the work on my accord, s2k and the truck since I got it.
dizzy= distributor?

Also the cam and crank are both keyed how can they go out of sync? What does 10* mean?

well, if he doesnt know that it needs you front o2 sensor then i would be leary.......you NEED it.....no question about it....

10* is referring to your timing- the only way that he can adjust that was with your timing chain that connects your crank to your cam.........if hes turning the distributor (dizzy) then hes not actually changing the timing like an older vehicle, but messing with the fuel sync

If he had to change the "timing sequence" of the cam to crank positioning to get it to run then you have something serious going on there. I third the fact that you have to have the no.1 o2 sensor installed in order for the computer to send the correct air/fuel mixture to start with. You need to set your cam and crank back to the proper positioning. If he has asjusted the distributor(dizzy) then it needs to be set back correctly and go from there.

I doubt he moved the timing b/c with the 210 cam you can't advance or retard it without the piston hitting the valve....I know b/c I had misread the keys on my inital install, so I am not sure how he manage to get it to run at 10* I highly doubt he did the chain but the dizzy sounds possible.

the only other way to adjust the igniton timing other than with the timing chain is with a tuner.....distributor doesnt do it like on an older vehicle
