Either ignition switch or starter wire is damaged, corroded, or broken in between ignition switch and starter.

how hard is it to change an igniton switch???

It isn't bad at all. You take the cover pieces off around the steering column and put your key in the ignition and turn it forward to the first click then insert a pick or something similar into the hole in the front of the ignition assembly and pull the ignition key assembly out. Then unbolt and unplug the ignition switch and remove. Reverse procedure to install.
