I use a 5W30 synthetic year round. I have hot summers and mild winters in Florida. My seems to be doing fine with that. For those with high mileage and contemplating switching to a synthetic oil might consider doing a treatment with this stuff. http://www.auto-rx.com/ It is several step process so read the instructions carefully.
Side note - From experience with my car, and talking to others, if you run dino oil the life of the engine, then switch to synthetic, at first it burn more oil. After a few changes, though, the oil burning seems to lessen, and oil consumption is better than with dino.
- Disclaimer - This is personal experience with a car, and experience with others that did the switch. Don't flame me, I'm just saying if you do the switch, give it a chance. Don't try it one oil change then give up.
