i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2 2wd. I dont know to much about ityet so i was just wondering if anyone had any good cheap upgrades or some stuf thats good to know.

One question that i have is what is the best kind of gas to use for it?

 

Change/check all fluids. You can lookin into a superchips for more power. You might also want to change the spark plugs/cap/rotor/wire and a coil.

 

If you get a programmer for the power I'd get the SCT. It seems to be the best according to everyone who has used it.

Other than that basic mods like exhaust, air hat setup, and maybe headers. No way to really get huge power of these trucks cheap.

 

just run regular unleaded, its not designed to run higher octane. if you notice knocking or pinging while using regular (87 here), then you have a problem with your engine.

 

Clean it
Check and/or change all fluids as Dodge15004x45.9 say
Upgrade tires and wheels (factory ones are pretty small looking)
Tint the windows
Add a Back Rack
Paint your bumpers to match the body of your truck or just to black
These are some of the things I did to my 2001 Ram when I got it. It's like "night and day"

 

Put some flame stickers on it to get ou about 100hp at the wheels, the bigger the better.
