I know man don't worry. We were on the same page. I was just explaining my thoughts. Didn't wanna be a total dick and not try to help at all lol

On the early 2nd gens, the ones you are talking about, may not have the full code read out, but you can still check the codes on them with out a code reader. You can simply do the same three key on off procedure, and you just have to count how many times the CEL light flashes. Yes, it can be hard, but it's still a viable way to check the codes.

I did not know that....That would be a real head scratcher after a few blinks. (Was that six blinks or seven. D*mn it! Let's try that again.) I saw a code reader at WalMart the other day for like $96. If I can't find a cheaper one I may get that down the road myself.

Heh, wait until you get into the evap codes, where that light is going to run 40+ times.

Have you tried looking on ebay for a little code reader? I know Oriely's has them for like $70.

40+ blinks No way, I'll pay for a code reader. I will probably check PeP Boys, ORilleys, etc before making a choice. I always thought they were like $400 (like the units the garages have) then I ran across that one at WalMart and thought, "Hey, I can afford that." Owning 3 cars all having computers in them, it will pay for itself in one use.
