Default Front Suspension Question

I just performed an engine swap on my 2001 1500 2wd from a 5.2 L to 5.9 (later convert it to a 408 when I put another 100,000 miles on it). It works wonderful with a B & G tune and some Hughes Engines performance parts.

I have aquired a Dana 60 spicer out of a 2001 2500 with the same 3.55 rear end but with disc brakes and I want to change out my axle. The problem is what options do I have about converting the front end. Can I just change out the hub and it fit or do i need to change out the knuckle and some other suspension parts so that it works. Need some Ideas thank you so much. Pictures hopefully will come soon. Still working on the engine. Placing a 14x3, long tubes, debating on a cat, with a major exhaust.

A 60 from a 2500? I was under the impression that all 2500s had a 70 rear axle.

Dana 60 in front, 70 in back.
1 tons have a 80 in the back.

That's what I thought. So, unless he's talking about converting his 2X4 into a 4X4 I don't see what good that 60 is going to do him. The original post is a little vague on what he's trying to accomplish. There's no mention of a transfer case. To me, it sounded like he wanted to convert to the stronger 2500 front suspension because of the extra weight of the 5.9. Not sure how the Dana 60 figures in that.

Sounds like he simply mistated as to which Dana rear differential he has aquired. I would have to assume he has a Dana 70 since he stated it came out of an '01 2500. It also appears that he is infact inquiring as to whether or not he can simply remove the hub assembly from the knuckle and install the hub assembly from the 2500 in it's place.

Well that won't happen, doesn't the 60 front end have 4 bolts holding the hub, as opposed to 3 on the 44.

You are correct again sir. Three on the 44 and 4 on the 60. Maybe switch the whole knuckle if the ball joints are the same size and taper, as well as, the knuckle itself being the same dimensionally.

Yeah, but why use the 44's weaker parts? Just switch to some 2500 wheels.

the 2500s with the V10 or Holy Grail (Cummins) had a 70 rear, the 360s got a 60

i wouldn't mind having dana 60s on my truck, but don't want to go to the trouble of converting it

Maybe I am on the wrong generation forum or something. I have a 02 ram 2500. Is that 2nd gen? cuz the change never took place on the 2500 til 03.

In my 2500 02 ram (5.9 gas) the rear is dana 60 and front is 44.
