There are only 2 recalls that even mention the possibility of a fire and both are the kind of thing that requires the vehicle to be in operation for the failure to cause a problem. Your vehicle was sitting still not being used, correct? You would have to prove negligence to prevail against Dodge and that's hard to do when they acknowledged the issue and issued a recall. If the recall was performed by the previous owner then you'll still be SOL. You can go to the Dodge website and find out if there are any outstanding recalls based on your VIN. If you discover that all recalls have been performed prior to your buying the vehicle, well so sad, too bad. I still don't understand how your bank gave you a loan for the truck without requiring you to have full coverage on the vehicle. You are now looking for any way to get Dodge to pay for your poor judgment.

And lose the text-speak. That may be OK for your cell phone, but most forums frown on it.

now i usually read alot of threads, and dont ssay much because with alot of thing i dont know what i am talking about. mostly suspention but i do have some wierd knowledge for you being i am a DOD certified fire inspector for about 2 years now, and i have been doing the for a little while

a fuel tank i not made of anything conductive. mainly plastic, a hard plastic, which does not conduct electrisity, or heat. nor fire, or spark. so for a completely enclosed tank to ignite due to some sort of fire or electrical problem... least just say out of my years doig this. ive never seen it. the fire itself my have been an electrical fire, maybe the tail light wiring harness, then some how spreading the fire to.... metal? ... and very few wires (compared to the front) or the tire which wouldnt catch fire until about 500- 600 degrees, so i see now way a fire could have started due to something dodge did. especially not on an 01, if vehicle fires where a problem with 2nd gen trucks, that problem would have been very quickly sorted out in 94 maybe at very latest 95.... not an 01.

this is just a thing i tell people when i see vic fires i ask them if they have any enemies... may be where you want to start looking....

as for losing a dodge, i am sorry, it would be a very shame for anyone to lose there only vehicle with no money to get a new one, or anything...

and to second what the otehr guy said, how can you own that much money without the insurance company not having full coverage. or anything that would cover fires... i only own about 4K on mine and i have full coverage....

my advise like i said, i wouldnt be looking at dodge for thisone, i would start looking around at the people you may have pissed off recently or maybe a modification you just had done by a company, if you had any

fine to answer both your guys' questions. I bought the truck was doing great and everything had full coverage. Then i got laid off ...jus so u both know i love in an area where u gotta drive 30 miles just to get to a damn gas station so jobs are few and thin and with the economy now ..they don't even exist.... well i was falling behind on the payments because of that so we put the truck on my parents house loan that way i could still keep the damn thing plus i wanted to still put insurance on it since there is deer everywhere you look around here.

and happy VWANDDodge i know how to spell all u had to say is u didn't like o i typed in messenger form (even though it's quicker)

Thank you, Fireman Bill. This is just another example of the mentality of people these days. Accept no responsibility, look for someone else to foot the bill for your mistakes. Pretty pathetic IMO.

See if it's covered under their homeowner's policy. It was in the garage, right?

Let's see, you bought too much vehicle for your budget; can't afford to insure it; played some stupid game with mom & dad's finances in order to keep it; some random BS about deer; and you want to sue Dodge.

Brilliant

no it was in the drive way and they said that thy only cover it if the garage went up to and i know what your saying fireman bill about the fire. of course we had to call the fire department to put it out but the chief said that it was fricken hot from sumthin under the truck, because he said when they finally got the fire out that the rear springs were still completely red. i mean i right there with ya i dunno how any thing could have caused that from underneath the truck but it did. and as for getting people mad at me i don't think so i never really get into fights...normally i get a long just fine with people. as for how to find out if someone started it i have not a clue on how to look for it because that thing is so far burnt. i have pics if you'd want to see them.
