mine does the same thing.........ive heard that the map sensor has a part in starting
I was just going to post that same thing in that MAP sensor thread. I've already stated I noticed no improvement in bottom end, and won't know about MPG increase or if there is more power when in OD ,until later this week or next. BUT, lately my truck has to turn over a few more times every morning to start(starts right off after that for the rest of the day), I too thought the pressure regulator was going bad again . But after I installed the new MAP the other day, it fires right up instantly in the morning now.
Of course the OP still needs a fuel pressure gauge to check the regulator. Don't want anyone spending $80.00 for nothing.
HUH! what? Are you talking about the fuel pressure? If you are , it's in a 15 dollar Haynes manual, and if you have a fuel pressure tester I can tell you the procedure. You screw it in to the test port on the fuel rail , should be around 49 pounds pressure. Then after the key is off you watch the gauge and see if it drops in pressure quickly. or it holds for a good amount of time, shouldn't drop 5 pounds in 15 minutes or so.
I am having similar starting problems and after reading this thread I checked the evap system and found a huge hole in the charcoal canaster. I can't beleive those things a 100 bucks. What would happen if I just bypassed it?
