yeah ive already got the pan dropped and i was going to pull of the valve body but i decided not to at the time but im just trying to figure out how hard its going to be to make this 99 ram tranny work in my 01, do you just take off the vb and the sensor is under there or what do i have to do to convert it over?

Yep. Once the VB is out Take a 25mm hex and remove the connector that the car side harness plugs into.

Then remove the 2 hex heads that hold the solenoid block on, then remove the 3 bolts that hold the two solenoids onto the VB. Do the same for the other VB and swap the parts over, you should only have to take out those bolts, dont undo any connections.

If you can't get the 99 to work in your 01, depending on where you are located, I might buy the 99 off you. I have a 98 and apparently only 98-99 are interchangeable. WTF? LOL

That's weird because if you go to autozone, the rebuild kits for a 96 (KS-88) and 98 (KS-107) have different part numbers. Also the transfer case in 96 is a 27 spline where the 98 is 32 even though they are both a NP231.

Hello,

I'm a long time dodge lover -- started doing my own work 1 1/2 yr ago -- got a twist on the same question: Will the wiring transmission/harness swap you recommend also work moving a 1999 1500 (5.9L) ram cargo van tranny to a 2003 3500 ram cargo van also 5.9L ?

Thanks,

John Calligan

2003 is a thrid generation Ram, so, I don't think the used the 46RE any more...... from what I can see, it was a 45RFE, just what the differences are... I don't have a clue.
