Wierd Problem Reversing
Hey I have a '00 Ram 1500 5.9 . I was driving today and it started making a chunky rattle sound, from up front it seems. When I got home I put it in reverse it backs up about a foot then seems to lock up I put it back in drive then it goes ok. Put it back in reverse i get about a foot then same thing. It feels like if I gun the gas it will pop over. Any thoughts on what to check/troubleshoot would be great. Thanks

Glad to see it worked itself out!
As one of the guys said above. The brakes could be really bad and catching in reverse. ITS very possible. I had a 93 Cadillac STS(RIP) And i couldnt afford to replace the brake pads for a long time. So they got really bad off and one day when i put the car in reverse it went for like 3 inches and just stopped immediately like BLAM! I thought my tranny was f**ked. Nope. Took a look at the front left brake pad and it was catching the rotor and getting sideways in there when in reverse..The pad had no PAD left. It was metal to metal. The little metal stubs that are under the pad were eating into my rotor and locking the wheel. I never let my pads get that bad again. Too dangerous. What if the brakes would have decided to lock up in drive going 60MPH??!???! wow, that was stupid on my part. Plus, when i got money i had to replace rotors AND pads.
Anyway, Just thought id post that up. Cause i thought it might help you. But your pads may be fine...
Not real sure the guy above (dakotas ram)was talking about pads tho.
