2nd gen member with ankle surgery!!!
Look on the bright side and keep your spirits up. Bodies tend to heel better when the person is in good spirits, and not so good when you give in to pity. If it hasn't sunk in yet, don't let it. Keep a stiff upper lip, and you'll get through this yet. Keep fighting! Never give up!
that would be envy, not pity.
get well soon zman, i hope its nothing but a pain in the foot.

speaking of injuries
my dad has titanium pins in both elbows
one was from getting a 480 volt electric shock, the box he was turning on was for an irrigation system, the wire had shorted from a mouse chewing on it or something (we found the charred mouse on the ground later), well what happened, he turned on the power and as soon as the contactors touched, the box literally exploded when it shorted, he pulled back so hard that he pulled the muscle from the bone in his arm, and required a synthetic tendon that's screwed down
his other one is from lifting an antique ice chest into his truck, and something just let go, with one helluva snap
my grandpa did the same thing to his arm...opening a can of beans on a camping trip
my dad has also had surgery on his left eye because he had a piece of metal that was starting to rust (it was there for approx. 20 years, he thought he got it out at the time)
had to had a graft from the back of his eye to fix it
oh and he's had stitches on his wrist from a pipe hitting it, while setting up an irrigation stop
and had staples on his head a few times
as for me
the only thing that comes to memory was not that severe...could have been though
i was at work, hooking up a tractor trailer rig, i had the tractor under the trailer, pin locked, jacks up, and was up on the back of the tractor hooking up the electric and air supplies, the truck i was on, only has 1 section deck plate to stand on, well i slipped, and fell in between the fuel tank and quarter fender, my right armpit landed on the frame, i kept going but my shoulder and right arm decided to stop.
after getting my self out, i sat down on the ground up against the tire of the truck, and tried to pick up my right arm, i couldn't move it at all, and could only move my left up a couple of feet
that night, i couldn't sleep, no matter how i laid, it was killing me, and every time i'd cough, it would light up in pain like no other...almost to the point i felt like puking...THAT kind of pain
to this day, i have to be careful, or my shoulder will pop out somewhat, and hurt like hell, i might want to get that looked at
ive never had stitches, needed them though, when i got punched in the lip, and when i put a knife into the meat on my finger...on my birthday

For you guys following this thread, I spent most of the day at Mass General today, going through this and that and finally a biopsy . Unfortunately, it turns out the news is not good. The tumor in my ankle is malignant. It will take until next Tues. or Wed. to find out what kind of cancer it is , and then we go from there. The possibilities are endless and too much for me to explain right now. Just figured I'd give an update. And please don't think I'm looking for any kind of sympathy, life goes on and we deal with it as best we can I guess. Thanks for all your support thus far, and I hope to be around this place a lot longer, so I can be a PITA to all the noobs that don't post info about there trucks
Best of luck.
Thanks man. I won't know anything until next week ,when they know what brand it is and if it has spread, or come from some where else. So far atleast , I don't think it has spread from that area. But I don't know if there is a difference if it's incoming.
