Any thoughts on when I might need to change the cap, rotor, and wires? This truck has 160,000 miles on it and I haven't done anything except for the air intake since I bought it at 139,000 miles.

Any maintenance records? Any idea when the previous owner did it last?

Otherwise, I'd just wait until a nice even number like 175000 or something (if you aren't having any issues), and then replace them.

Brass cap and rotor, doesn't matter to much which brand. I got BWD myself from O'Reilly Auto Parts, but Advance Auto is a good place also.

For wires, I went what I could get local, a nice set of professional Autolite 7mm wires. Otherwise, you can of course order a nice set of MSD or other known performance brand from Summit Racing, JC Whitney, or wherever.

For plugs, stock Champions or NGKs (no platinum plugs!) are the best it seems. If you are having pinging issues, Autolite 3923s are good.

Well, on the first tank, I'm seeing an increase of 1.6 mpg.

It will take several tanks to determine an accurate gain number, but I'd believe it if it was somewhere near that. Mine were in decent shape, and I still gained 0.5 MPG when I switched out mine for the first time.
