Sounds like a giant vacuum leak to me. Carefully spray carb cleaner around any vacuum lines like 2damnyankee said, when it revs you have found your leak. I had a 1994 3.9l Dakota that would idle like that when the coolant temp sensor was unplugged, could be something as simple as that. Good luck.

I think the hissing is the air filter b/c when I had it open element it didn't make that hissing sound but still did the idle till death maneuver. Also yes there is a gasket b/t the filter andthen again b/t the IM and the TB, so 2morrow I will go and check these IAC and TPS and fuel pressure.

Did you do away with any cats in your exhaust system? And if you didn't are they new and if not, have they been checked? I don't remember your past post's about the o2 sensor(s).

I had the exact same thing happen to me. It was on a 93 Grand Cherokee with a 5.2 magnum. My problem was two injectors that were stuck open. Drain a little oil out and see if it's been thinned out by fuel.

I traded it for a 66 Plymouth Fury.
