Default What is this part I just broke? PICTURE ADDED!

I was trying to track down vaccum leaks in the cruise control and removed the battery tray. I ended up wrecking the plug to an electrical part. It is rectancular in shape, with a triangular base that mounts to the fender with 3 bolts, and a 2 wire plug. It is located just below the cruise control on the drivers side of my '97. There is an identical component mounted in the same place on the passenger side.

What is it and can I live without it?

I have the same components on mine. Don't really know what they are, but I assume it may have something to do with the lights since they are mounted directly behind them. Try your lights and see if they work properly in all modes.

I have a 98 and don't see what you are describing anywhere on either side. It may be different on yours, but it could be the impact sensor for your air bag(s) I suppose. So you may not be able to live without it.

I was going to suggest the camera thing also but forgot, sorry, good call Sheriff, I think it will take a pre 98 owner to ID it right off the bat or a little research. BUT, I think I'm right.

This is a picture of the component mounted on the passenger side fender, near the front clip.

I'm almost positive I'm right. Take a pic from a little farther away, so I/we can have a better perspective of where it is located.
