aim, yours is an 01 so everything applies to your truck from the FSM but there are some minor differences that non-01's have to be careful with, specifically the band adjustment on the tranny. different years have to be backed off a different number of turns.

you more than likely did not overfill. it holds some 26 quarts. a trans fluid change *according to the FSM* is 4 quarts give or take, anyone thats done it knows it takes closer to 6 (did for me and several other from what i searched).
to check start her up, set the parking brake, put her in N, check the fluid level at normal operating temp. im sure someone else already said that.

i was mistaken, already went over that ...and again, aware about the 4 quarts for a change. most people on this board go from between 5-8 on a 46RE. i put 4 in and it most definately was still below the line at operating temp plus 100+ ambient temp. 6 put her about 3/4ths up the fill hash marks.
