Default Mopar air filter install

To those out there that have one do you have the stock TB? I am having a hell of a time getting this thing to fit on. If the s bolt is long enough to work I cant get the lid on but If I shorten it enough to get the lid on then there are no threads sticking out. All I can think is my holley 52mm TB is slightly taller. Any ideas guys?

You might have to make yourself a new S bolt. It should work, but with the stockers, you need to get a TB spacer. Not a high dollar one, but a cheap pack of them at your parts store.

What the hell are you talking about? Why would he need a TB spacer? That will only make his problem worse. And where do you buy a pack of TB spacers?????? Are you talking about the rubber gaskets?

To BigDodge99, All stock TB's are Holley, so yours shouldn't be any different unless it is some special aftermarket TB. The Mopar air cleaner is definitely a tight fit on a stock truck. I had to work on my s-bolt several time to get the height just right. I also had to tie up the wire harness that is in the way. Another option is to leave it just short enough that you can get the lid on. Then go to Lowes or Home Depot and get one of these drop-down insert style wing-nuts (see attached pic) that will go down through the hole of the lid and screw onto the threaded s-bolt below. That way, the s-bolt doesn't necessarily have to come up above the lid.

They can be a PITA , but will fit. One thing though, if you are not the original owner, I suppose it is entirely possible that some has installed a TB spacer between the TB and intake manifold. Look at someone else's if you can.

And Silver, I think he meant the round plastic spacers you can buy to install on top of the TB. A 3 pack with different heights is available at just about any parts store(i'm sure you ar aware of that). Regardless, you are right, that it will just make the situation worse.

Well thanks guys for all the input. It is a aftermarket holley but is shouldnt be any higher. I think the wing nuts silverdodge suggested will work best. Thanks. Ready to get this 408 running. This is the one thing holding me up.

He was just having a hard time getting the S bolt right that's all. And if that's all that was holding him back, is it lit yet?

Thats the one 700. Yeah I have run it. I had to take it to have the fuel sync set today so I just sit it on there and wedged something under the cowl to hold it in place.

Well I just went to menards, lowes and rural king and I cant find those anywhere. Going to look a few more places after dinner. Would they be someplace besides where the nuts and bolts are?

Be happy we have a Holley and not a Carter or some other noname crap. I was actually surprised when I first saw mine that they spent the money on that. I expected to see some cheapo throttle body in there.

Try Home Depot, Ace Hardware, OSH, Sears, Mom & Pop hardware stores, etc.
