I need some help. I have trying to get my AC cold. everything I have done is listed below and at this point I am baffled. Why can't I get the cabin temp below 70 degrees?? any help would be greatly appreciated.....
AIR CONDITION SYSTEM ON 01 DODGE RAM 1500 4WD 5.2 L ENGINE
1. REPLACED EVAPORATOR CORE - CORROSION EVIDENT AT BOTTOM OF CORE
2. REPLACED COMPRESSOR - LEAK WAS EVIDENT AT BEARING SEAL
3. REPLACED DRIER
4. REPLACED FLUID LINE WITH ORIFICE TUBE
5. FLUSHED AND DRIED, EVAPORATOR CORE, CONDENSER, AND MANIFOLD HOSE ASY
6. ADDED 5oz OIL. REASSEMBLED AND REPLACED O-RINGS AS NECESSARY
7. EVACUATED THE SYSTEM TO 30 hg FOR 30 MIN. PUMP OFF AND LET SIT FOR 20 MIN. NO LEAKS
8. CHARGED SYSTEM TO 35 LOW / 205 HIGH
ABT 94 DEG

Other than moving the dial back and forth rapidly so you can hear it slam shut in both directions no. Plus IIRC there might be an electronic actuator on a 2001.as opposed to earlier models like mine with a cable.

Most small cans are 12oz though there arer some that are bigger. The system will take 32oz (2lbs) to be correct. If you overfilled it or didn't use enough, it will not cool correctly. Overfilling could cause the compressor to lock up so be carefull with that.

OK, Thanks for all the help. I cycled the ac controls several times through the whole range, all servos are moving and all doors ar opening and shutting. When I did the test, I had it on max, fan on high, I waited 10 min for system to stabilize. my reading are on #1 post. I played with the refrigerant, I added alittle at a time until the temp started to climb. I vented until I got the coldest temp. Is it normal for the low side pressure to drop so low at 1500 rpms? I suspect the condenser need to be replaced, that it's not cooling the refrigerant properly. I'm searching for confirmation. this is a learnig evolution for us and me. so please keep going. I'm sure we can figure this out.
