Default HELP! New Ram owner right here!!

Hello. I just bought a 2000 dodge ram, short wheel base, 3.9L v6. Used 68000 miles 5spd. very nice. It does not have an owners manual, and i believe it also does not have the thing that cranks the jack up, and lowers the spaire tire. I was wondering if i have just over looked it's location, i've searched the entire cab. I was wonderin if someone could point me into the right direction? Also i am in need of an oil change would 10w-30 work?

Thanks
-christian

The jack hardware should be located in one of the plastic tubs behind the seat in a regular cab, not sure about a quad cab.

10-30 is fine.

10W-30 oil in the summer. 5W-30 in the winter. I have written a DIY for an oil change (Although its not hard). Its in the DIY section at the top of the page. Make sure you get the larger filter IIRC Purolator L30001, Motorcraft FL-1A, Napa Gold 1515, WIX 51515.

I would think that your jack would be behind the rear seat. The previous owner might have removed it as well.
I had to remove mine when I did my stereo install, but I have a tool box in my bed. I don't like the life jacker jack that we get in our cars, so I use an AC-DELCO floor jack that I keep in the box. Not completely necessary, but I have seen those little bottle jacks fail more than once.

Welcome to DF, it's addicting.

You could probably get a replacement from a dealer, but that's gonna be $$$.
I would go junk yard shopping and see if I could find one. If you need one really quick, you can use a set of channel locks and walk the tire down that way. As far as a jack handle, I think a regular piece of 1/4" pipe would cover ya in the mean time. (been awhile since I have looked at it)

EDIT: I run 15w-40 year round where I am at, and we get some decently cold winters up here.
