Do a search for 'wild vents' or 'crazy vents' to find the fix.

also see "check valves". there's 2 of them on passenger side between intake and firewall.

Thanks for all who replied, After looking over all the search threads on wild vents I came up with a plan to check on my vac lines. My 01 had a check valve already in place to the a/c vents, so I checked it with a vac gauge and it was good I then checked each line and they were good I then checked the check valve right after the manifold and found that one bad and replaced it with a new elbow to fit the new check valve and no more wild vents. Go figure repaired it all for under $6.00. Thanks again for all the help.

the one on the side of the manifold gets gummed up with oil vapors over time. mine and my dads trucks both had a bad one on the side of the manifold.

Was the valve purchased at the dealer? Do you have the part#?

I used a mighty vac hand held vacuum pump or better know as a brake bleeder. I bought the check valve at pep boys and it was on the shelf with all the other vac line parts, that;s why I had to buy the one other fitting to adapt to the size for the outlet off the mainfold, it was a elbow. And also I had the vac from when I changed my brake lines.
