Unhappy I have a thing ...
... and don't know what to do with it.

Underhood, driver's side, up next to the firewall, up top next to the corner: a black wire with a spade disconnect then a black plastic "stem" about 1 1/2" long stuck into it ... and that's it. Looks like it's supposed to go somewhere and do something but ?????

That's not factory. Looks like someone tapped into an existing wire for an accessory that was later removed. Dodge didn't use crimp spade terminals or shrink tubing like that on their trucks.

Maybe they ran some fog lights or something and took them off before they sold the truck.

Put a meter on it and see if it has voltage with the truck off, with the key on or with the lights on.

Trace that wire back from the firewall to wherever it ends. That'll help get us to what it is.
