Lited Truck and Big Tres.
Welcome to the forums.
What is your gear ratio? Most are the stock 3.55, or maybe 3.92 if you are lucky. Either way, unless you upgrade your gears to accommodate those tires, your truck will be slow as a dog and the transmission will melt.
You'd be looking at upgrading to 4.10s, minimum. 4.56s or 4.88s would be better. Others will pipe up with their suggestions. If you don't know how to change your gears out (there are two sets of gears since you have a 4x4, one in each axle), you are looking at about $750-$1000 in labor (depending on the shop), not counting the parts.
Looking at replacing those axles wouldn't hurt either. Thats about the limit, tire size wise, for the Dana 44 front axle. A 2500's set of axles would be better, Dana 60s or better.
Don't mean to be Mr. Buzzkillington here, just wanted to let you know before you damage your truck.
EDIT: I see now that you have an old thread with some of this already posted. Sorry for the repeat in knowledge.

i have a 5 inch lift on my truck, 35 inch tires and as far as i know it has stock gears. possibly 3.92 idk. but i can spin my 35s easily
To get 38 inch tires i would say about 7 inches of lift depending on the amount of wheeling you do, 38s will fit with 5 inches of lift but you would not be able to flex the truck at all.
With 7 inch lift comes lenghtened drive shaft, and depending on your states laws you would need some droped bumpers.

Say good bye to your transmission. Not trying to be a jerk, but it will go with stock gears and those size of tires, its just a matter of time.
