increasing mpg?

RE: increasing mpg?
It would be no problem to install but I'ts doubtful you will see a gain in fuel mileage because of the design of the Rams beer barrel intake manifold. The fuel savers are supposed to improve fuel atomization with a swirling motion, but by the time it gets to the fuel injectors where the fuel is introduced to the engine it has traveled so far and made so many turns aloung the way that I feel all swirling benefits have been lost. Believe me I'm all for saving fuel, but i'm just not sure this gadget will help. It's somewhere along the line of a throttle body spacers effectiveness. I have spent so much money over the years on trick of the week products that were guaranteed to make my race cars so much faster and make so much more horsepower- lets just say I have learned the hard way. If i am wrong about this I will definately be kicking myself with the price of gas sky-rocketing out of control. It's scary what could happen in the near future.[sm=headbang.gif]

Earlier this week I just checked the pressure and they were around 30-40 psi. Read the tire and it said like 65 max.
So I filled them up to 60 psi to stay on the safe side. But anyway, I noticed a big difference on the highway. Traveling back and forth to work before the truck would always downshift in certain spots.. ok fine. But after i filled the tires up with more pressure i noticed that the truck did not downshift in those same spots.. So, im sure that its getting better gas mileage. Dont know yet as i am sill on the same tank.
Only bad side is that its quit a bit more bumpier.. But i can live with the bumps if it helps out my gas mileage.. Especially with the gas prices nowadays! Anyway, just a though.

RE: increasing mpg?
The tire may be rated for up to 65 psi but if you check the sticker on your door it'll prolly say 35-40 psi. Oh, ya guessing your mileage by how far you get on how low your tank is (ex: 200 miles on half tank) is a bull**** way to do it becasue full guages can be inaccurate and reading it can be off by a gal or so. It really pisses me off when [:@]people starting braggin about there mileage and then say they got so many miles for a half a tank or some **** like that because a lot of it depends on driving.
I can sometimes go 50 miles before it moves off full and other times I can go 70 miles before it moves off full but that doesn't give an accurate mileage number without filling up and checking.

RE: increasing mpg?
im runnin a 3" exhaust n tall skinny 33's. i got 12.5 mpg on my last 600 mile trip. i run em at 60 psi, theyre 8 plys. i get like 10.5 in the city. so not much more i know about increasing mileage except get smaller tires. when i bought the truck it had 28's on it and i got 15.5 mpg. but people were making fun of me with a lifted truck and 28's on it. so now im paying in gas mileage.

The info on your door for tire preasure is only valid if you have the original tires (or replacements of the same type) . If the tire you are running is rated for 65psi max load running 60 will not hurt them but running 40 will as that is underinflated. There are many diferent make up of tires on the market and you should always contact the manafacture for info.
