Default The best shorties?

I know... I know... I'm better off getting longtubes for my 3/4 ton, but I want to use my stock y-pipe and get rid of those rusted exhaust manifolds.

So my question is whats the best bang for my buck on shorties? Whats the best increase in power am I looking at? Been lookin at the Eddies to go with the Air gap.

theres a lot more work involved with long tubes. shorties just bolt right on so ease of installation is a bonus. unless you get some like mine where the cylinder 7 and 8 tubes curve up and block the bolts, that got a little annoying on the install.

I don't want to hijack the thread but what are the differences between long and short tubes besides one is long and one is short which ones would you recommend for a truck with true duals two high flow cats that has a x-pipe into two super44 MF mufflers

well the stock y-pipe is pretty restrictive also if you go shorties either edlebroc or gibson, and pacesetter if longtubes also get cerimic on what ever

long tubes will give you more low end torque, while shorties are geared for more flow at higher rpm, or top end torque. Longtubes require an aftermarket y pipe or crossover, and most shorties will bolt right to your existing y-pipe. For bigred, I recomend the longtubes because you already have the stock y-pipe gone and the x pipe should be fairly simple to attach to. Hope that helped

I have the Edlebrock ceramic coated. They fit well. There was a couple bolts that had to be tightened with a wrench, but that was not a big deal. I am also running the magnaflow direct fit cat and flowmaster cat back. The only issue I had with the whole system was that the distance between where Magnaflow stopped and Flowmaster started was about 2 feet. I just bought a piece of pipe from Pep Boys to fill in the space. I like the sound and for a motor with 153,000 it pulls decent.

If you have minor mods on the truck, go shorties. If you have added a cam, done head work, and/or running boost, long tubes all the way.
