k will do tomorrow definitely worth a shot.

only other pertinent info I can think of is the motor I purchased was out of a ram van I believe. oil pan, valve covers, and a few other misc accessories were different so I swapped them over from my old motor. basically the only thing I used was the heads, bottom end and IM off the new motor if thats any help.

thanks for all your help guys!

replaced the map sensor and tried a diff iacv yet again... no change.

sorry no vid just yet but it basically starts up, revs to 1.5-2k and dies instantaneously.

any other recommendations?

well my after I removed the cap on the tb i found a 25 torx where you can adjust the idle. brought the idle up to 1.2k so it idled.

then i removed the 13mm bolt on the distributor and slowly rotated it. idle is perfect now, seems the timing was off this whole time.

i can't believe the helms, haynes, etc don't outline this adjustment.

Probably because you are not supposed to mess with the idle or timing. Those are controlled by the ECM. If it worked for you great, but don't be too shocked if in a few days it learns what you did and compensates. You'll be back to square one.

I've always heard that you can't adjust the timing on the magnum motors by rotating the distributor, hmm.....

its great that you figured it out though. its always nice to hear that another ram is running right after a repair. unless that ram is close to me, then i want it to break down so i can get some cheap parts.

doesn't really adjust the timing per se.. but if the distributor is at the far left or far right it will start up and die. turn it a tiny bit away from the extreme left or right and there is no adjustment after that. checked it w a light and timing stays exactly the same.

my guess is the previous owner of the motor installed the distributor wrong and/or the junkyard i bought it from. thats why i got the motor for soo cheap.

parts are all your if it dies though lol. tranny has 1200 miles on it
