Default Winding noise from rearend

Title explains it. Whenever i start to take off from say a stop sign i will hit the gas and it will start making a horrible winding noise but once i get going the noise goes away. only does it sometimes. does it extremely bad if im stopped on a grassed hill and have to get to about 1600 rpms to get moving it will have like a shaking noise. does not do it at high speeds or low speeds except for when i am taking off. may make this noise bout 1 out of every 3 times i stop and start to go again.

My guess is u joints? possible bearings but i dont think thats it.

Sounds more like your rear diff or the tranny.
I would put my money on the tranny.

You can pull the rear diff cover and see if you have some metal flaking in the oil... Hell you can pull the tranny pan and check for the same thing.

mainly does it when im turning left if that has any importance. its done it doing it right to but its pretty bulletproof that it is going to make the noise if i turn left and accelerate up a slanted road or sumtin

Your rear limited slip sounds like it's ready to crap out. Pull your diff cover off and look for any debri or metalic colored fluid when you drain it. Sounds like a good excuse to re-gear it.

There's a rubber fill plug on the differential cover. Use that to fill it up and fill until the fluid is level with the bottom of the fill port. Make sure to re seal the cover with some high temperature RTV.

Not a problem. If you have a drain plug, then use it. But I would wager to guess that you do not as I do not. You will need to pull the cover off. Just remove all but the top two bolts. Loosen those two. Then you need to break the seal. Some use a rubber mallette to knock on the cover, but a flat head screwdriver can just as easily pry the cover loose. After the fluid has drained, completely remove the cover. This is where you can inspect the fluid and differntial innards for broken pieces and metal shards. When you are satisfied with this, clean the gasket surfaces and inside of the differential cover. Apply a generous bead of RTV hight temp silicon sealant around the perimeter of the cover and bolt it back onto the diff. Insert all of the bolts hand tight then in a criss cross patern tighten them with a socket wrench until the sealant begins to ooz out. Now give the sealant an hour or so to dry and retighten the bolts until snug. You can now fill the rearend with the recommended oil for your diff (mine took 90 wt) and 7-8 oz of friction modifier. It should take about two pints. Wait a while and check for leaks. Drive around some and check for leaks again.
