Is this stuff any different from Lucas oil additive. I put the stuff in every vehicle that I change the oil in. It seems to quiet valve tics and help engines run more smoothly, but am I missing out on anything additional with Restore?

Sorry for the thread jack.

No hijacks , thats what this thread is for , to discuss the product.

Again , I will say I'm happy with the purr from the engine . I have a 5.2 in my jeep with 50K that sounds no better . The engine sure feels peppier as stated and I'm thinking after some responses , I did the right thing .

I recall using this yrs ago , like some , had no positive results , but no negative either . the thing is , I wouldn't use it on an engine with below 150k/250km's simply because , you shouldn't have any issues with compression or worn bearing(not that it doesn't happen) . Bluenose , I wouldn't think your truck needs it yet

If you have a slight knock , or low compression , i think this stuff will do like said , "restore" lost power . You'll have to determine the condition of the engine . Me , i was thinking pull and replace , now , it's add Restore till the noise comes back again .

I use to use it. But now I dont. Really, I dont think I need it. A good dino oil (Like Rotella), a good filter (WIX, Purolator, Hastings, Baldwin), and a reasonable oil change will serve you well for over 300,000 miles. I am a member of BobIsTheOilGuy.com and the guys dont use it, so why should I?

A simple oil change will give you the results you speak of. I dont believe in mechanic in a can. Sorry But I dont buy into it.

And did I read that right, you have very low miles on that motor anyway.

All those products do is thicken up your oil. This will likely eliminate knocks and increase compression because it woks on the cylinder rings. A cheaper way a round that is to use a thicker grade oil. These cure all in a can are just snake oil made to eat up your money. I think you see or hear what you want to see and hear is what it boils down to. If it makes you happy, then more power to ya, but don't think for a minute that they really work. It is like one of you already said, a band-aid. In the old days garages and dealers would pour stuff like that in badly running old cars just to make them sound and drive well so they could sell them to the next sucker that came down the road.

I used to know a used car dealer that put the stuff in all his cars. It is perfect for masking certain engine problems to potential buyers. If you need it, probably need an engine rebuild soon anyway.

Just a quick rant about oil filters since you mentioned it. What's the deal with K & N raising there oil filter prices from 13 to 17 dollars. WTF!!!

Stop using them. You do not need to spent even $10 on a oil filter. Get a Napa Gold. It will filter just as good and be 1/2 the price. Bottom line is you are paying way too much for a good filter.
Now thats thinkin with yer dipstick!!!

I use it and can tell a difference. I'm kicking around the idea of not using it on y next oil change to see if I can feel a difference. It's due anyways. I DID notice a difference the first tie I used it though...
