Anyone driven on sand?
I'm going to N.C. at the end of the week, Has anyone taken one of these out on the sand? I know I need to bring a strap boards and shovle with me. I'm running 255/70 most beach's say to air down to 20-16lbs I'm just worry about rolling a bead while I'm out. Tips would be great as well it has been 4yr since I have driven on the beach!
i've not, but if i did i wouldn't air down that low unless it was a last resort to get out. i'd rather be stuck than unbead a tire. a shovel will get you out of most anything. i've driven some at daytona and st augustine in a regular car with regular tires. once you got rolling it was usually ok. the biggest danger was starting off and digging a hole. that's where a simple shovel was the hero.
oh - keep an eye on the tide. that'll ruin your day...

I'm getting my new cobra agin with bluetooth and noaa weather so I will know the tides. I have been going down to the outer banks the last few yrs now and there was a pic last yr of an f550 tow truck trying to pull out a lifted jeep. The tow truck had its front axle about 4ft off the ground and the tide was lapping at the jeeps wheels.

^ 1+ Don't run on a tire that low. Your OEM specs call for either 50 or 55 PSI IIRC, so no ore than 10 PSI under inflated.
In sand, your gonna want to go slow and be easy on the gas. Peeling out on a take off is the worst think you can do. You'll bury it t the axles real quick fast and in a hurry.
Oh, and you know this, but I'll throw it out anyways, attach a tow strap before you start the fun.
the OEM specs are for on road, airing down to say 20 lbs would be fine on sand, just dont be flying across it like a dune buggy
ive driven on sand, we have a field thats basically beach sand in areas, including the irrigation lane (hence irrigation, sand no hold water) my truck does just fine aired up, but would be much less prone to hopping and spinning if i were to air down, my dad used to go to silver lake dunes with an old yota, before i was around, and he ALWAYS aired down nice n low, plus i air the tires on my jeep down to about that, with no problems at all

FYI my door sticker says 41psi. Screw viper!! I'm on 16X8 wheels as well. I still know where I can find vipers HID a$$.
