Default Issues after engine overhaul.

Well finally after a few weeks of the truck being broke down me and my buddy finished it up today! Replaced the plenum with the hughes plenum, water pump, comp cam double roller timing chain, put a 180 t-stat in. Replaced all the seals and o-rings, flushed the radiator and the engine, and put full synthetic valvoline 10-30 in along with a new serpentine belt, cleaned the throttle body and the IAC and the MAP but I Couldn't get the TPS off for the life of me. Truck runs great now! No vacuum leaks, throttle response is phenomenal! But the only thing is.. it's a DOG now.. Like to the point of I feel I'm driving my girlfriends 2.2L 4 cylinder pontiac sunfire. The only culprit I can think of is the timing is all screwy. I cleaned out the injectors, everything is in the same exact spot as it was since I marked EVERYTHING. Before I could do 0-60 in under 7 seconds but now it's at least 11-12 seconds. I have 4.11 gears and a 14x3 air filter. Any ideas as to what it could be? Were at a loss here..

Give it a little time. Maybe the computer needs to relearn everything again.

The negative on the battery was unplugged for about 1 month. Would that affect anything?

Yea, your computer was reset. You need to let it relearn for about 300 miles. I am going to also say that your cat is clogged up and that it's a coincidence. A blown plenum gasket will usually trash the converter after awhile.

Also, you said you cleaned the MAP and IAC? I don't recommend cleaning those two things, both are extremely fragile. I'd replace them if they've never been replaced before. Just my two cents.

I want to replace all 3 sensors but for some reason I can't get the tps sensor off since I know it's going bad but I just keep stripping the bolts. Is there a better IAC MAP or TPS other than the stock ones you can buy off summitracing.com?

For the sensors giving you trouble, if you already stripped the heads then you have to cut off the heads. Once you cut the heads off, slide out the sensor, then use vise grips or pliers and work the remainder of the screws off. They have probably been on for so long the have frozen in place.

I just got my new IAC. I actually called Dodge and they said theres not much of a difference w/ the aftermarket vs OEM sensors. So i got my off ebay and saved $$$ compared to OEM.

terranova: how many miles have you driven after completing work, as mentioned a relearn maybe needed.

Also is the CEL on? if yes codes are?
As mentioned a cat could have failed- did you have any codes before repair?
A vacuum gauge would id an exhaust backpressure issue. as well as other problems.
Timing is determined by PCM so thats nlikely

you mentioned cleaning inj? explain...might call for a pressure and leakdown ck

I have a brand new magnaflow high flow cat I put on not 4 weeks ago so it definitely is not a clogged cat. I bought sea foam and put it all in my gas tank. After driving it really hard last night and today I'm noticing it's getting a lot better. But I still want to advance the timing to 4
