Fuel gauge stuck way past Full level and not coming down

when did it start this? did you fill it up all the way and then it did it?....if so, you might take the front of your gages off and move it back with your finger in case it just got stuck......heres a cheaper one
Well I never let my girlfriend drive my SS/T but I wanted to go on a roadtrip to Kansas to see some family and friends. So the Focus gets like 3o ish highway so I head out. My Ram had a quarter tank and she put 40 in at 2.50 a gallon so I don't think it was all the way full. Maybe it showed that cause the gauge lies sometimes, as far as sloshing around.
If she over filled it she may have jammed the sending unit in the full position especially driving it like that with the fuel putting pressure on the float. I am leaning more and more towards a new sending unit.
Well, on the bright side, a new sending unit means dropping the tank and for the same effort you will get a new sender, fuel filter and fuel pump. Knock three birds out with one stone. And as an added bonus at no additional cost you can clean all the sediment out of your tank bottom.

Ah yess the bright side! Well this is true, she is prob due for it with 125k on the clock.
As I previously stated, I have the same issue.
Thread Jack:
I banged on my tank with a rubber mallet. Didn't move the gauge.
Took the cluster cover off, pushed the needle over, turned the key, and the needle moved back past full.
So I guess this means I need a new pickup/sending module then, eh?
Yep you sure do need a new fuel pump/sending unit assembly AND now your going to have to figure out a way to recalibrate your fuel gauge so that it reads correctly.
i have a better theory than all of you.... i believe he has found a type of super fuel that doesnt run out! it makes way more sence.... haha ya'll don't listen to me.
You guys! Anyway I put 40 bucks in tonight so it gave me around 16 gallons so I set my trip odo at 0 so I figure go 160 miles then put more gas in Also can anyone tell me a good fuel pump set up to go with
