Default Sc 3715

ok so i think i pretty much got the tuner, but my question is, i googled it, and went to amazon, and of course it said out of stock(whcih i knew it would be) and i did the check to see if it fits, and entered my info. 2000 Ram 1500 5.2L Gas, and it said it does not fit, i did the same for a 5.9, and same thing, is this something thats up with amazon.

the guy has a pic of the upc label, and it says 98-03 3.9 4.7 5.2 and 5.9 and the 03 5.7. my question is: am i right by reading the label, or going off of what amazon says? (i know common sense says label, but if its not gonna work, i dont want to be out 100 bucks, when i could help my parents out and buy some groceries for the house with it)

also, how do you update the 3715? does it use a usb as well?

this is my first rodeo with superchips programmers, and i just dont want to be screwed.

It is the right one for your truck. If you go to superchips website and search around it lists the 3.9, 5.2, and 5.9L. To update it however you would have to send it in to superchips to have it updated if they still support that model.

Those are a few questions best left to a tech at superchips as to how much, whether it does or not need to be updated, or whether or not it will say. Maybe one of the other guys have had the experience of dealing with that. Sorry I can't help on that issue.

the 3715 is not internet updateable. There is no USB port on it. Yes, when you plug it in it will tell you if it will work or not. If it does need an update, you have to send it to Superchips in Florida to have it done. IIRC, it was about $80 for an update. a few Superchips guys hang on this site. Scott is a Superchips rep, pm him and he can give you more details. On a personal note, SC's staff is really a good group. They follw thru and follow up on any problems or questions you have. I just wish they worked weekends. I believe Scott's Fourm name is ScottFromSuperchips.

3715 is fine. its just the older model that's not usb/internet updatable. it'll likely work just fine. since our trucks are so old, its not like superchips is releasing any new tuning updates.

3815 was the next generation and has the usb port and supports both older and newer model trucks. 3865? is the latest. superchips does a nice job of providing a single tuner that supports a lot of different models and years. unlike hypertech that likes to sell you a single year model (or at least they used to).
