Yup, Laramie is right. ATF+4 replaced ATF+, ATF+2, and ATF+3, it is the latest/greatest and is superior to the previous three. It can be used for anything the previous three were used for.

Yea, if you want a good chuckle open up the owners manual (for those who have it). On my owners manual for a 97, it says to use ATF+2. Sadly that went away like right after the truck was made, and recently ATF+3 went away too. If you can find it, that would be amazing to say the least. Anything you find now will be ATF+4. If you have a WalMart near by you can get MOPAR ATF+4 for around $4.00 a quart. If you go to the dealer it's like $10 a quart.

Oren don't worry about it. I put in ATF+4 mixed with my old fluids and it has made no difference at all, it seems to be safe. All the 00 and newer trucks I think already have ATF+4 in them anyway.

Oreily's keeps it in their house brand, Valvoline, and Castrol. They are all about 3.xx a quart.

I'm stuck with NAPA. Nearest WalMart is 80 miles. I do miss Texas for the O'Reilly's...

2001 was the first year to require ATF+4. It is a full synthetic. ATF+3 is a semi synthetic. You can run the ATF+4. It won't hurt it. Might even improve the shift.

Also, AllData says ATF+3. Should I use ATF+3 or ATF+4?
ATF+3 isnt even made anymore. ATF+4 is all you should use.

I just used Coastal ATF+4 from Autozone. The $3 was cheaper than the $6 Valvoline.

Laramie if you go to the Mopar Nationals next year, I will change your tranny fluid, filter, and install an external filter for a small fee of only $24.95. I may even adjust your bands!
