Default need a tranny where do i go?

i have a 98 4x4 with 318. i thinks it a 46re. i had my uncle rebuild it but it broke after 50 miles. says its overheating. i guess the cooling lines are clogged. any ideas about that? well i was thinking of just buying a new tranny because this one is to destroyed to rebuild. i am so behind on this job i spent 2000 on the transmission and its broken. my uncle charged 600 and i got it towed when it broke. that shop ripped me off charged me 1200 to pull it out aND TELL ME HE WANTS 2600.

NOW I NEED TO GET A GOOD CHEAP tranny and get this truck moving. where should i go?

call me if you can 845-787-9191
thank you.

Your not going to find a "good" cheap tranny for these trucks. You either will have to pay that shop or buy a new one.
the other option depending on how long you plan on keeping the truck is to buy a performance heavy duty tranny.

you know after I reread your post i realized something. You said your uncle did the first rebuild and it only lasted 50 miles. That is no kind of rebuild in my book. Not to mention the fact that he charged you that much to do it as a family member. So if I read it correctly it goes like this. You paid 600 for uncle plus 2000 for tranny plus 1200 for shop to pull it. So far that is 3800 in expenses not to mention whatever it cost to tow it. I would tell your uncle to give you the 2600 bucks plus towing fees you wasted on his terrible rebuild job. That would net you just about what you would need for a ramzilla tranny and solve your problems for good.

Yeah I'd be telling my uncle that I expect every penny I paid him to be reimbursed as well as the parts that were lost due to his horrible rebuild.

If you want a good transmission check out

There is another one that's like a PATC or something like that but I'm not to familiar with it so I'm not sure of the link.

You guys are overlooking the fact that most uncles can kick their nephews asses, at least until they reach their 60's.

Sounds like a real hardballer if hes just gonna take his bloods money like that and turn his back.
Like speeddemon said, "cheap" & "tranny" are words that rarely ever go together.
Looks like you are gonna have to bite the bullet and pony up for a quality job ,,, Or think about getting another vehicle all together.
Might try posting in craigslist for a tranny guy in your area, whatever you do, get a written guarantee of workmanship in advance before you fork over any more $$$.

Just wondering, because I may be in the market to rebuild my tranny or just go ahead and buy a new one. Which do ya'll think would be a better choice for a aftermarket tranny, the Maximum Evil (Dr. Evil) or the Mega Viper (PATC)?
