Stalling issue
Hello all. I've been perusing the forum for answers and have actually started working on the problem. I have an '01 Ram 2500 4wd with Heavy Duty suspension..crew cab 75,400 miles. After reaching operation temp, theengine stalls when I slow down for a stop or occasionally while making a turn. I've replaced the AIC (neg. disconnected). Removed throttle body and electrical components and cleaned. Seafoamed air intake at throttle body. replaced PCV and hose. Added HEET to fuel tank to eliminate any moisture. Battery checked out good. Sprayed WD-40 to check for vaccuum leaks-none...but I can still hear a hissing sound from PCV location. If I disconnect any of the vacuum lines the engine revs right up. Went to auto zone for a pre cat o2 sensor and they gave me the wrong one as the fittings didtn't match up...I don't understand why because they had all the info on the truck and they looked it up on their computer. Anyway, i'll go back tomorrow to see if I can get the right one. by the way, once I get the truck rolling and give er some gas she runs great. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
clean the connector to the PCM .

I will try this solution now. I replaced the TPS this afternoon to no avail...still stalled and nearly got me rammed in traffic. Thanks for the link, now I just hope it works.
Read this last week , heard about it lots before too . Some cures constist of just tightening the bolt on the connecter . It fits your bill pretty good so I thought I'd throw it out there . Good luck , hope it works out for you . A little feedback on your experience would be great too . Others might find this useful .
When I was building my jeep , I replaced the PCM with a perf PCM , cleaned everything up well , but not as good as done in the link . I never have any stalling issues , frankly , no issues at all .
ABS modules can also be misdiagnosed due to poor connections . The same principle applies , clean the connection good .

I just wanted to write up a quick blurb on how I fixed my stalling issues and the steps which were taken. 1. I checked for vaccuum leaks...replaced pcv valve and dry rot hose...still stalled out. 2. Replaced IAC (2x as first one was bad) still stalled. 3. replaced TPS...still stalled. 4. replaced air filter..why not? existing was dirty. 5. at some point along this route I dumped in some HEET thinking I had bad/water in fuel...stalling. 6. went to install new O2 sensor but was wrong connector type so I brought it back and they didn't have right one so I skipped this step. 7. pulled some electrical stuff apart and sprayed with cleaner and applied electrical goop 8.CEL threw code P1391 (using the key dance trick) so I changed the crankshaft position sensor (not fun) but...solved the problem. Truck is idling well and runs great. Changed the transmission fluid and filter today only to find pieces of broken and twisted metal in the pan. I'll be shopping for a new tranny soon, but for now I'll drive her til she stops. This forum has been a great source of information and I appreciate everyone who takes the time to offer advice.
Even though I'm not having any of the problems you having, I'd just like to take this time to THANK YOU for posting a solution. Lots of people like to type there problems, then want an answer asap, but won't post anything if they find it on there own. Thanks for posting a fix for it!!!
RedRam , just wondering , did you have a CEL before cleaning the PCM connection ?
Just wondering if a bad connection was preventing the PCM from getting proper readings
X2 , if you have posted a problem , post the fix , good on you RedRam !! Too many bad leads when searching already

I know how frustrating it can be to find a thread on the problem and not know the solution which is why I posted my stalling issue and made sure to go back and provide the update. My CEL was on for quite some time before the stalling issue put it wasn't throwing any codes so I was told that it was probably a tranny issue and that I should just keep driving until I "needed to deal with". I received the 1391 code for the crankshaft position sensor before I cleaned the PCM connections. I remember because I had purchased the electrical cleaner the same time I got the new CKP sensor. Since I was having initial problems finding the CKP sensor, I decided to clean some electrical connections. If I had the patience, I would have liked to remove the other new parts installed and see if the CKP was the only part that was faulty. But for now I will leave well enough alone. I kept all the old parts, just in case. Have a great Labor Day Weekend, all.
