Hey guys lately ive been thinking about seafoaming my truck just to clean out all the 8 year old gunk robbing me of my precious mpg that i barely get as of now... so just a quick thing any miracle stories with it? crazy mpg increase? less sluggish? things to watch out for? engine damage? things to do afterwards?

my trucks got 126k and the guy at advanced auto said it'd be a good time to do it, and for something like 15-20 bucks i think its a good idea...

I started using seafoam probably around 200,000 miles give or take and I think it helped out a lot. I use to get around 10, 11 to the gallon, then with a tuneup and other little things I'm now up to about 15.7 at 275,000 on my 5.9. I put about half a can of seafoam in the oil about 150 miles or so before I change it and put the rest of the seafoam in the gas.

 

I don't know that I saw that big of a change with any of it, but I do use it every other oil change. I don't dump any in the crank case or any in the gas tank. I take off the PCV valve and let a little of the SF get pulled up through it. I think it helps to keep the valve free of junk, might not do it, but that's what I think. Then I remove the air box, and slowly pour the rest in, being careful as to not stall the motor. When you are nearing the end of the can, go ahead and dump the rest in, make sure you save enough to kill the motor. Let the motor sit unrunning for about 10 to 15 minutes. After that, I start her back up, and the end result should look a little like this \/


You might want to be careful about where you do this. If you live in a subdivision, then probably not a good idea. I would try to find somewhere where there isn't so many on lookers.

 

sweet, anything for 2 or 3 more mpg, anything to watch out for? seems like not really since your goin strong 75k after the treatment... whats it do for the oil? and cant you add it to a 3rd place as well?

 

when adding it to the oil it helps remove gunk and sludge and also if you have any water in there. It will dry it out i had my girlfriend's friend drown her mustang out and i took all the plugs out, and bumped it a couple of times got the water out then put new plugs in it and added. The seafoam to the tank and the oil and let it warm up and run bout 15 mins and then drained it all out, and did the oil change and started it up and let it also get the water out of the gas its some good stuff.

alright sounds good to me, maybe some in the crank to get out water in the oil? thts what it says it does lol but maybe ill just follow the directions? lmao but yeah i live in like the country (or at least close too it)

 

yea it doesn't hurt i did it to mine a month after i bought the truck just to do it and know it was done. I would just make sure u let it drain really good before putting your plug back in

 

I usually pull the vacuum line off the brake booster and let some get sucked into the intake. Let it sit, then drive it pretty hard. Seems to clean it out. I had a old motorcycle that was a real hard starter, the carbs were very dirty and needed a rebuild I had to start it everytime with starter fluid. I ran a tank full of seafoam and the bike started easier since.

 

So i got some seafoam so i can clean everything out. i have seen some of you saying that seafoam is the best so i got some to try.

But whats the best way to use it, i have seen some videos of people putting it directly into there throttle body until it kills the truck and they put some in there oil and stuff like that.

But what is the right way to do it for our trucks. ive never used this stuff and i dont want to break anything today.
