Did you know that in some states you can get a ticket if your headlights aren't properly adjusted? I'm sure they would have to be way off but one shop I worked at made us check them on state inspections.

 

And just to add, plastic is still cheaper than glass, even with all the petroleum hikes. We ran into this when we started looking for bottles for the honey. Every where we went, you can get plastic cheaper.

 

If they only made them as a proper Fresnel Lens then we would really be kicking out some light.

 

The side markers don't get nearly as hot hence the difference.

I just re-did mine using a "CV" (Crystal View) kit and they turned out amazing. When I started they looked like my back after a mid summer tanned back sunburn, after there was just some minor crazing in the plastic that is irremoveable. Installed some GE Nighthawks, put some Sylania silverstar marker lamps in and this thing shines. At some point I'll be doing a wiring upgrade as well as replacing the stock foggers with some Bosch real deals.

 

another question, why can't Dodge take a tip from Buick and use levels? my moms buick regal has levels on the top of each light to adjust them so if you are sitting on flat ground with properly inflated tires then you can just look at the level to get the light adjusted correctly.

yall should have seen my t-bird a few years back when i first adjusted the lights. i thought they were pointing too low so i cranked them up a bit and loved it because the low beams would shine a country mile and the high beams not only lit up the road really well but they also lit up the tree tops pretty good too.
i had to adjust them down after a couple of months though because i got tired of getting flashed all the time.

those nighthawks are pretty good bulbs. i have a set as my spare for when my hella bulbs burn out.

 

My guess would be $$. Plus that only helps with the horizontal(elevation) adjustment. Doesn't help with the vertical adjustment.

 

Most people are idiots anyway and wouldn't know what to do with a level. Another problem is that it's just an expensive doohickey that will break in time anyway. I have old levels (real levels) that have dried up over time, and another one that the color has gone over the years. Instead of green, it's clear, which makes it harder to see (I have lots of levels so it doesn't matter much). I can foresee probably both of those happening in a car front end environment.

 

I would say that harness is for Canadian models with Daytime Running Lights. That is the only thing I can think of, since your truck is pretty much loaded out.
