I changed the intake and exhaust manifolds, crank and oil pressure sensors, all sensors and I forget what else. Basically I just used the block crank pistons ect.

Only if it has the same pinout on the socket and meets the VDC requirements of the power supply. What kind of socket are you referring to on the MB that allows one to swap out a SCPU with a DCPU and on WHICH board. In Macs- it can NOT be achieved w/o swapping out the power supply and MB. On PCs: only if the socket is the same exact pinout and your MB has the same Gate and Drain VDC specs as the CPUs that are going in- DCPUs do NOT meet the same VDC specs.

Most single CPUs draw less current than a multi-core CPU so, even if you were able to physically install it, the MCPU ends up drawing excessive current through the board and burns up the caps in the CPU power supply circuit, the pins at the connector junction burn up and, various resistors burn.

The other thing that one has to do is upgrade the firmware- this is what the other poster mentioned about chipsets. He was referring to compatibility and, unless new FW was installed, there's going to be a mismatch in chipsets thus causing controller issues. Basically, no hardware will function as a result.

So, it is possible to get it to work but, not without changing the FW and / or changing the MB and, in some cases, the power supply. It is usually not a drop in and go operation. Something has to change to accommodate the new configuration.

this sorta is really off-topic. this is not a computer forum it a truck forum.

The thread is not pointless.
I know this is off topic and I do apologize but, i have an issue when people comment like this fella here.

NO post is pointless. A question was raised in hope of looking for an answer. Then, an analogy was used that referenced computers.

A response was made that it's simple to change out some components that generalized that all components can simply swapped out- just like the CPUs.

The comment was inferring that hey, if I can be appled it here, it can be applied in the same manner over here as was seen here:
a socket 939 will run a singe or dual core processor. this engine swap should work
You would make a bad engineer with that method of thinking.

With any mod, or component change, even an engine swap, to a PCM, whatever it is, one has to look at ALL the factors that may affect the outcome.

I read the entire post and noted the correction initially- I read the whole thing. However, there's false information and a poor analogy in this thread. One person's taking a computer class and thinks they know it all and would like to delete the thread if they were moderator. That's what gets me, not the mistaken information.
