Questions.. I need some help with, 4 of them.
Hey, Ive been flippin through thread after thread and cant find any real answers..
I appolize for the amount, but I didnt wanna have a bunch of threads goin. I know these are some minor problems compared to others. But they are drivin me nuts.
1. I start my truck and drive for about 30 secs, my E Brake Light, ABS light And sometimes my brake lights them self will stay on. I noticed that if I lift the brake pedel up with my foot this will fix it. This just started after I had all the brakes on the truck replaced. Is there an adjustment or sensor i can play around with to fix this for good?
2. After my truck warms up and im doing 60mph or above, it has a slight miss. Its not terrable, but its annoying. I have replaced; plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil. Noticed a change with the coil, but there is still something there. Could this be a fuel problem? I was think it might be the fuel pump. Or i could be way off haha.
3. Also from time to time, when i first take off or hamer on it for a sec. She wont shift back into overdrive (a reason I hate auto). I play around with the throttle (on and off of it) itll make the shift. The fluid is fine; good color, no smell, also have some lucas in it.
I have a new filter and plan on drainin the fluid and checkin everything out. Could it a bad selinoid, or TC?
4. Driverside front suspension squeaks like a stuck pig. Ive greased the hell outta it, to only have it come back after a day. When I step into the truck it squeaks. Is it a bad ball joint? Dried out bushing?
Thanks to everyone in advance!!

1. sounds like the brake switch on the back of the arm that the pedal is on. look and you will see a switch behind the arm.
2. slight miss might have something to do with the cat. more rpms= more exhaust. more exhaust being pushed into a partially plugged cat means more exhaust being pushed back into the cylinders, which will cause a misfire.
it could be a fuel problem too. go to a parts store and get a loan a tool fuel pressure test kit (free, gotta love the loan a tool program). test the fuel pressure and report back with the results.
3. not sure. i've heard that you don't want any additives in these transmissions, only atf 4.
4. 2 or 4 wheel drive? i'll assume that its 4 wheel because whats the point in a 2 wheel drive truck? it could be the u joint lacking grease, shocks could be shot, the hub bearings going out or even polyurethane bushings not having grease in them.
to check your ball joints and the hub you need to jack that tire off the ground, grab it at 12 and 6 o'clock then push/pull on the tire to feel for any in/out movement. if there is any movement then its either ball joints or the hub.
while you have it jacked up, spin the tire and listed for a clicking/popping noise coming from the u joint. also grab the axle shaft between the axle tube and the knuckle and see if it will move.

You didn't provide much information on your truck.
1. agree. same with mine. same issue.
2. can you describe 'slight miss'?
3. could just need a band adjustment
4. since it is fixed temporarily with a greasing, it has to be one of the components that you grease. only grease one at a time to find the one that is doing it. then replace that part.

Vague information leads to vague answers. You want specific information from us? Give us specfic information.
1. Already answered by Aubrey and Sheriff
2. What rpm range is the miss? Under accelration? WOT? crusing/highway speed?
Some more information on the truck would help imensely. describing it as a "Ram Short Box", doesn't really help.

Sorry for the lack of information. I wasnt thinking.
94 Ram 318 2wd Auto. Body has about 310xxxKms, engine 100xxxkms (rebuilt, I was told).
Thanks for the answers so far.
1. Got that figured out, thanks!
2. Well this morning on the way home from work, it backfired the whole way (about 30mins). Crusing on the highway, it didnt matter what speed I was going. It sounded like a little drummer was under my truck. It wasnt a terrable backfire, just a constant pop pop pop. It was a damp morning, but after driving i imagine everything would dry up. It felt like a missfire. Im gonna take a look at the plugs and wires, make sure everything is good. Though they are all brand new, maybe 400kms on it all. I was thinkin it sounded and felt like a cross fire. Im wondering if i mixed up the fireing order, or that some wires are arcing.
3. Im gonna drain the tranny and take a look around when I get a day off. I have a new filter for it, and i wont put any additive in.
4. Its a 2wd.. I know, whats the use. But it was originally bought for the farm to get me back and forth from the tractor.
Im thinkin it must be a balljoint acting up. Everything still works fine. Ill grease the hell outta it all again. Not gonna worry about it.
Thanks again for all the help!

look under the truck, drivers side, and locate the AT shifter linkage. where the up/down rod from the column transitions to the back/forth rod to the transmission, its a sort of Z shaped rod. on the horizontal ends of that rod are plastic/nylon bushings. you can either replace them, or just grease them occasionally with wheel bearing grease. mine drove me crazy for awhile. squeek squeek squeek squeek. every time the truck rocked, or you got in or out, or you stopped, or you went..
double check your wire routing from the cap to the plugs. having a wire crossed will cause backfires. and i'm sure that driving like that isn't good for the pistons or the valves.

+1 with Sheriff, double check wires against firing order and the cap. Also route them as per the TSB( do a search here on "spark plug wire routing"). A constant backfire is gonna hurt that engine in short order. Once you are sure the wires are sorted out, we can look further. If I was you I'd try to drive it a little as posible till you can resolve the backfire issue.
No dice.. I took off all the wires and re routed them etc. I have them zip tied up, so they dont cross. Still have the same problem. Mind you it didnt back fire as bad.
Its gotta be somethin to do with the fuel system. It sputters like its running outta fuel, but if I mat it, shes fine. Though, it wont spin the tires from a stand still..
Think the next steps are; Drop tank, drain it and lines. Get a new fuel pump, and remove injectors for cleaning.
Anyone think it might be the tranny??

one test you could try is to put your old coil back on. i may be that the new one is acting up. its worth a shot and is a lot easier than the whole fuel pressure routine.
you should also dump a can of seafoam into the gas tank the next time you fill up your truck so your injectors will get a good cleaning.
i'm not sure about canada but in down here all the parts stores have loan a tool and you can borrow a fuel pressure test kit. thats the best way to determine fuel delivery issues.
