Default Welding Shop heavy duty bumper? Your thoughts?

I busted a deer and my truck - So I want to replace the thin stock bumper with a fabbed up front bumper.

Local welding shop (looks professional) is wanting 600.00 to fab and fully weld up a bumper. Main section will be 10" junior channel. It will be set out several inches and the sides will be angled around. It will be dropped down about 1-2" a
nd the gap filled in with I think he said 12 gauge. A brush guard will be bent out of 2" pipe to go around the grille and then our and around the headlights. Diamond plate will be use for the drop and the top cap.

The owner said it would look nice and he is having his best guy work on it - The welder has a killer Dodge Diesel with the 1500.00 RanchHands front bumper so they are using it as a guideline but not as fancy or costly.

Is this to heavy duty? 10" junior channel is hefty I think it specs at 80lbs for the 8ft section!

Prices- I checked online prices of steel and the main frame 10" junior channel should be about 100.00. Roughly 250.00 worth or metal. 350.00 in labor..

I'd say go to it...only thing that would make me wonder is if they done it before or would you be the first? I want one but around here they cost $800-950...so $600 seems like a steal to me.

provided you like the look of the ranch hand, go for it.
it'll be good practice for the shop and you'll get a deal.

My ranch hand grill guard cost me $320. Its the heaviest one they make before you get into full bumper replacements. The bumper I built cost me around $200. But I did all the work myself in the evenings. Sounds like a decent price. One thing to mention is make sure they fab up new bumper mounts and dont just weld the thing to your frame. Believe it or not, you might want to take the thing off one of these days!lol.
