Try unscrewing the front O2 sensor and drive it around a bit. It'll be loud, but if you can get more power by bypassing the cat, then you just found your problem.

You said there's a whine noise and you can't get over 2000 RPM. I don't think that is a cat problem. If it were a cat problem you'd have a loss of power but, your loss of power is because you can't get past 2000 RPM. So what is stopping it from getting up there? And why is there a whine noise? Is the noise from the tranny? It's an auto so, it not shifting could very well be the problem. If it's a 4x and you're not getting a speedo signal to the computer, it won't let you go over 45 mph. The whine noise could be because the tranny is not shifting. If you are in 1 or 2 can you get over 2000 or does it still stop there?

The gears were shifting fine until Monday. She all went to hell on Monday. I've asked around and other people have had the exact same thing happen because of the converters. Either way she's getting a free ride via AAA to the nearest decent mechanic because she isn't throwing any codes. Down shifting got her over 45 mph but she still hung at 2000 RPMs. It's something I've never dealt with before and I had to replace the wholen engine at 60,000 miles. The Izusu does a similar thing on occasion but never to the same degree I experianced with Red on Monday. The whining didn't occur when we took her back down the road but she was blowing white smoke that and everything else stayed the same.

Axelle, what's with the goofy text color? It just makes your posts very hard to read.

I do like pink and I'm getting the feeling I'm the only punk girl on these forums. lol I'll definitely let everyone know. I don't think it's the head gasket because that's usually a blue smoke. But each vehicle is different. I'm hoping it's not the tranny though I really don't think it is, I know how my luck runs.

Thanks for all your responses. I'll keep you all posted.
