Default Extreme loss of power, won't go over 2000 RPMs

I've had my truck a long time and aside from replacing the engine she's been good to me. On my way home from work last night I found that I couldn't get her past 2000RPMs and every time i hit the gas she acted like she was dying. This was accompanied by a strange whining sounds and she isn't throwing ny codes or even a check engine light. Any ideas?

Cat stopping up is usually over a period of time thing, sounds more like a fuel pressure problem to me.

i have seen 3 of of them personally, not that they are pluged but they fall apart internally and block all flow, and it is instant.

The inside of the converter fell apart the second year we had it but it seems that occasionally they will stop up again. I've been asking around and that's what happene to a couple of other trucks that had had catalytic conver issues before.

Thank you so much for your answers.

Normally, yes, but it often happens that a failing cat will overheat and cause a chunk of the internals to dislodge and plug it up resulting in an instant loss of performance.

EDIT: must read through entire thread before posting.
