I would still think it's your cat. Yes, they generally cause problems over time, but not very many people can pick up on a very slow power drain like that until it's too late. As for the tranny not shifting, well, if the truck wont go over 2000 RPMs then the lack of shifting makes sense specially if it thinks its in limp mode or something along those lines.

If the truck won't shift, one would tend to believe the rpm's would go higher. And a bad head gasket will blow white smoke.

There was no loss of power before hand. She's drove the same for years. It was sudden but she also didn't blow white smoke consistantly. It was like right when she started a puff came out. No smell, no nothing. She was towed to a shop today. I'm hoping the news is better than I expect though...

To all those who guess catalytic converter, you win. She got new tail pipes, catalytic converter, motor mounts, and shocks. Grand total $1000 and she runs like she's new! Thanks for your help.

now that you have a new cat you might want to check the condition of your plenum gasket.
if the gasket is leaking bad enough then it will eventually kill the new cat.
